MASON, Clara Manita - 101, Spry Harbour, passed away on August 13, 2000, in Eastern Shore Memorial Hospital, Sheet Harbour. Born in East Ship Harbour, October 3, 1898, she was a daughter of the late Willis and Catherine (Murphy) Monk. In her early years, she was employed by Mt. St. Vincent, a resident of Spry Harbour for 63 years, had a great love for her children, enjoyed reading and knitting and had a keen mind up to the end, a member of St. Andrews Anglican Church, Spry Harbour. She is survived by daughters, Margie (Ray) Boutilier, Ruth (Jack) Holley, both of Spry Harbour; Shirley (Bob) Whitehead, Oxford; Cecila (Winfield) Gerrard, Dartmouth; Irma (Harold) Cooper, Mooseland; Denise (Neil) Marple, Port Hastings; sons, Reg (Elezilda), Spry Harbour; George Jr. (Jessie), Dartmouth; Larry (Geraldine), Sheet Harbour; Ray (Linda), Halifax; sisters, Gwen Rowlings, Musquodoboit Harbour; Esther Newcombe, Sheet Harbour; 30 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; 19 great great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by husband, George E. in 1976; sisters, Bernadine, Lillian, Nina and Mable; brothers, Alonzo, Belville, Roy and Willie; daughter-in-law, Donna Mason; a granddaughter; two great-grandchildren. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today, prayers at 8 p.m., all in D.S. Crowell and Son Funeral Home, 22558 Main St., Sheet Harbour. Funeral 2 p.m. Wednesday in St. Andrews Anglican Church, Spry Harbour, Rev. Carson Baxter officiating. Burial in church cemetery. Family flowers only, donations may be made to St. Andrews Cemetery or church fund.
